Life at the Barn

Hi! I’m Madison. Like every horse person, I started as a beginner—learning at different lesson barns and growing my skills across disciplines. But one thing always stood out to me: it wasn’t just the riding I loved—it was the horses.

I was just as happy brushing them or leading them around as I was riding. But at the barns I trained at, that side of horsemanship wasn’t really taught. Groundwork—working with horses on the ground—is a huge part of it, along with care, feeding, tacking, and training.

At Moore Mustangs Horsemanship, we go beyond just riding. Students learn how to care for, work with, and train horses—growing into confident, capable horsemen and horsewomen.

Our booking calendar is still in construction. Call or text Madison to schedule! (two-o-eight) 740 . 4508

About Us

LOCATION:
Situated between Middleton and Emmett, but are technically in Caldwell, Idaho.

More Than Just Riding

Here at Moore Mustangs, every lesson is personalized to the individual student. We meet you where you are and help you grow toward your goals at your own pace.

You’ll learn the why behind what we do and the how to do it yourself. We don’t just focus on getting on and riding—because there’s so much more to horses than that. Here, you’ll experience the full side of horsemanship, from catching and tacking up to grooming, groundwork, training, and trail riding.

We work with students of all ages and abilities, including those who need a more supportive or adaptive environment. Everyone is welcome here.

What to Expect

Ready to begin your horse journey? Here’s what it looks like.

Start by texting (208) 740-4508 with your name, the student’s name and age, and the type of lesson you’re interested in. I’ll get back to you and help get your lesson scheduled.

When you arrive, please park in the driveway behind the railroad ties. For the safety of everyone, remain in your car until I come to get you at your scheduled lesson time.

Payment is due upon arrival (Venmo, Cash App, or cash), and then we’ll get started.

Each lesson is a little different depending on the day and the type of lesson. Some days we may spend extra time riding, while other days might include things like washing horses, groundwork, or trail riding. If one activity runs longer, we may not get to everything—but that’s part of working with horses.

Look forward to having you out!

What to Bring

When working with horses, having an appropriate wardrobe is critical for both safety and enjoyment.

Helmets

Students will be required to wear a horseback riding helmet.

If your student is really invested in horseback riding, we highly recommend purchasing your own riding helmet for your child. This ensures that the helmet fits and stays fitted properly on your students.

However, we do have extra helmets for students to use whenever needed.

Water Bottles

Especially in the summer, we recommend bringing a personal water bottle with you, otherwise, you can drink water from the hose!

Clothing

Jeans are recommended, but any full-length pants are acceptable.

For safety, shorts, capris, and skirts are not allowed while riding.

T-shirts, tank tops, long sleeves, and sweatshirts are all appropriate. However, crop tops and similar styles are not recommended, as they leave more skin exposed and can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fall.

Please also dress for the weather—bring a coat on colder days, or a hat and lighter clothing when it’s hot.

Accessories

Please keep in mind that accessories such as jewelry, bracelets, and long nails can be easily lost, damaged, or get dirty around horses. To keep them safe, we recommend removing them and leaving them in your vehicle before your lesson begins.

Shoes

Acceptable footwear includes boots, tennis shoes, or any closed-toe shoes.

If you plan to take lessons regularly, investing in a pair of riding boots is highly recommended, as they provide the best protection and are the safest option when working with horses.

Flip flops, sandals, Crocs, and slides are not allowed. Students who arrive in these types of shoes will not be permitted to participate in horse activities for safety reasons.

NOT the Dog

For the safety of our riders, horses, and your pets, animals are not permitted on the Moore Mustangs property. If you bring a pet, it must remain in your vehicle at all times. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Safety First

Our top priority is always the safety of our students, instructors, and horses. We teach students how to safely work around and ride horses, giving them the skills and awareness to handle situations if something does go wrong.

How you act and carry yourself around horses matters. We teach students to be observant, aware of their surroundings, and responsible—things like putting equipment back where it belongs and always closing gates. We also go over basic safety and emergency procedures to help create a safe environment for everyone.

That said, horses are animals, and accidents can happen—even when you’re doing everything right. They are large and powerful, so while there’s no need to be afraid, it’s important to always stay aware and respectful around them.

All adult students, or a parent/guardian of a minor, are required to sign a liability waiver before participating. All students are required to wear a helmet.
